Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, one of Britain’s best-loved musicals, launches a major new UK tour at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton. The production will play nationally across 20 theatres, bringing the world’s most famous flying car to audiences across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Based on Ian Fleming’s novel and the 1968 film, the musical combines the Sherman Brothers’ iconic songs with a new theatrical book by Jeremy Sams.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang follows Caractacus Potts, an eccentric inventor who, with the help of his children Jemima and Jeremy, restores a broken-down racing car.
What begins as a family project quickly becomes an extraordinary story when the car reveals its magical powers, carrying them and Truly Scrumptious into an exciting world of imagination, danger, and resilience. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's return to the stage promises to capture the same wonder, adventure, and delight that have defined this timeless classic.
